I currently work within Anglian Water's Information Services Department. I led the business’ Open Data Project, automated processes using my coding skills and I am constantly looking to transform ways of working with data and technology. I am a STEM ambassador and Sub-Regional Chair for the East of England’s Young Apprentice Ambassador Network and have recently spoken on a panel for TechUK and to the Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills. All whilst following the unorthodox career route of a degree apprenticeship.

Anglian Water employ over 5,000 people and of these 5,000 are 200+ apprentices! Anglian Water supply water and water recycling services to more than six million customers in the east of England and Hartlepool. If we laid our water and sewer pipes end to end, they would take us a quarter of the way to the moon!

I have a varied and international career. I took the traditional first job in investment banking out of university because it was “the thing to do” in Singapore. While it was exhilarating and lucrative, I felt I was missing something. I explored many avenues for a sense of meaning, taking time out for further studies and indulging in my creative aspiration. I realised I enjoy learning, discovering things and figuring out solutions to problems. For more than a decade now, I have tracked and talked about how machine-to-machine (M2M) has evolved to become Internet of things (IoT). Today, we are still only at the start of this technological evolution and businesses and citizens are not yet enjoying the potential of the technology. I joined 1NCE as senior market development manager precisely to put actions to my words to drive adoption of IoT.

1NCE is a start-up company, led by a serial entrepreneur who has started many new technology businesses.  We were founded in 2017 with a clear idea of what the IoT market needed – that connecting IoT devices should be easy and simple to do. A fun fact about 1NCE is in the name. The origin of the name is a play on our simplicity concept that you only need to pay once for IoT connectivity over the life span of the IoT device that could be as long as 10 years.   

Simon is an experienced partner in our Cambridge office and also lives in the area. Simon is passionate about solving complex problems and connecting different people to solve those problems. Simon is also excited about creating a sustainable world, supporting PwC with their efforts to working sustainably, and also teaching his children about recycling, renewable sources of energy and asking the question of 'what is net zero'.

Fun facts about our buildings: Changing to day time cleaning which reduced our lighting and air conditioning requirements by up to 60 hours per week.
